Concussions

Dr. Walpert explains that concussions are a very common problem, especially in those who lead an active lifestyle. It is important to recognize the symptoms of a concussion early on, as the earlier they are treated, the less time it takes for the patient to heal. Symptoms of concussions can include change in orientation, alteration in consciousness and momentary confusion. There are also more subtle symptoms such as changes in sleep patterns, moods, and concentration. If more serious symptoms occur such as prolonged unconsciousness or seizures, the patient should be taken to the emergency room immediately.
